Your skin is the largest organ in your body, so it's important to determine your skin type. The most important thing when caring for your skin is understanding your skin and how it adapts to situations (seasons, hormones...). Everyone's skin is unique, but there are common skin types and conditions. It's very useful to determine which skin type best fits your own skin, so you can choose products that are more suitable for your skin.
HOW TO DETERMINE YOUR SKIN TYPE
- WASH YOUR FACE - with a gentle cleanser
- PAT DRY WITH A SOFT TOWEL
- LEAVE YOUR FACE ALONE - do not apply any products yet and wait for 30 minutes
- EXAMINE YOUR SKIN & DETERMINE HOW IT FEELS
- NORMAL: skin feels smooth. No signs of dryness, the T-zone looks and feels balanced.
- DRY: skin feels tight, can even feel irritated. It may have dry and flaky patches.
- OILY: skin is shiny on the T-zone and on the cheeks. It feels greasy and you may experience pimples, large pores, and blackheads.
- COMBINATION: oily T-zone, but the rest of the skin feels normal / dry
In addition to your skin type, your skin may also have skin conditions or special concerns (these are not the same as skin type). These can be temporary.
- SENSITIVE: very reactive to different products, often feels dry.
- AGING: wrinkles, uneven complexion, lack of elasticity.
- ACNE: blackheads, pimples, cysts - painful to touch.
- DEHYDRATED: may look dull, skin absorbs moisturizers very quickly. Liquid foundation may look uneven.
- HYPERPIGMENTATION
- COUPEROSE: permanent redness. Burning, tingling sensation.
Now that you know more about your skin, it's easier to find the right skincare routine. We'll help you a bit with that. But keep in mind that your skin can change over time, and not all products will work. It's often a process of trial and error.
