Glycolic acid has the smallest molecules of all alpha hydroxy acids, making it a highly functional ingredient. Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract is a natural salicylic acid (BHA). It can visibly soothe the appearance of temporary redness and accelerate the skin's exfoliation process to remove old skin cells. This process helps improve the effectiveness of the upcoming skin care products (such as body lotion). It can reduce the appearance of dull and uneven skin tone. BHA is an oil soluble, compared to Alpha Hydroxy Acid, which is a water soluble acid. This means that Beta Hydroxy Acid can effectively dissolve excess sebum and reduce the appearance of oily skin and breakouts. Poly Hydroxy Acid (PHA) is available in different forms, but only gluconolactone is used here. This is an ingredient that has properties reminiscent of the classic AHA, but PHA causes less irritation. The reason PHA is less irritating than AHA is because of its larger molecular structure. PHA has soothing, moisturizing and antioxidant benefits. It also aids in the exfoliating process on the surface of the skin.
